NBA Rumors: Granger Signing With Clippers?

The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the frontrunners to sign forward Danny Granger, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Once Granger clears waivers in the next 48 hours, the Clippers’ ability to offer him significant playing time and championship contention under coach Doc Rivers makes them the most attractive destination, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
First Glen Davis, now Danny Granger? The Clippers are certainly an attractive team for free agents since they are a large-market contender with an excellent head coach in beautiful Los Angeles.
Granger to the Clippers makes so much sense for all of the reasons listed above, as well as the fact that he owns a house in L.A. and trains there during the offseason, making the marriage even more perfect.
However, the Granger sweepstakes isn’t over. While the Clippers are the favorites to sign him, the San Antonio Spurs are still involved and are planning to speak to Granger soon. As Wojnarowski wrote later in this article, the Spurs are telling Granger that he could be a modern Robert Horry for them.
Outside of the Clippers and Spurs, the Miami HEAT, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are also in the mix for Granger’s services.
Granger was officially bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday and he’ll clear waivers on Friday to become an unrestricted free agent. Because Granger was bought out prior to March 1, he’ll be playoff eligible with his new team.
Are the Sacramento Kings planning to sign free agent forward Royce White? According to head coach Michael Malone, adding White to the roster is not a transaction that’s anywhere close to completion.
“It’s obviously this time of year with buyouts and free agents and all that,” Malone said after practice on Tuesday. “I think a lot of the rumors will start about potential signings here and there. But as far as Royce White goes and the Sacramento Kings, there’s nothing imminent at all in regards to that.”
Sacramento recently worked out Royce White and the team’s front office has considered signing him, but reports that a 10-day contract is imminent are false, as Kings head coach Mike Malone stated on Wednesday.
White was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, but he never appeared in a game for the team. He played in a number of D-League games, but that’s all we’ve seen from White since he starred at Iowa State and led the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
White butted heads with the Rockets over how they handled his anxiety disorder, and made it clear that he didn’t feel a proper support system was in place for him to succeed in Houston.
The 22-year-old would have a chance to prove himself with the Kings, if signed. The team is 20-37 and clearly focusing on the future, so taking a chance on White and giving him an audition would be smart. However, judging from Malone’s comments, it doesn’t sound like a signing is on the verge of occurring just yet.
To those who have asked, Spurs not expected to chase Metta World Peace at this point.
Shortly after the New York Knicks bought out Metta World Peace, the San Antonio Spurs were mentioned as one team that the veteran would like to play for along with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami HEAT. It’s clear that World Peace wants to join a contender, as he would love to add a second championship ring to his collection.
However, it seems that he’ll have to cross the Spurs off of his wish list, as McDonald reports that the team isn’t expected to pursue him at the moment. The Spurs are in the mix for Danny Granger, as mentioned above, and could have their eyes on several other free agents ahead of World Peace.
This has been by far the worst season of World Peace’s 15-year NBA career. In 29 games with the Knicks, World Peace averaged just 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.8 steals in 13.4 minutes (all of which were career-lows).
His struggles in New York may be one reason why teams like San Antonio are somewhat hesitant to bring him in over other options. He may have to prove himself on a 10-day contract before having his contract guaranteed for the remainder of the season.
