Now, almost a year and a half later, (Nerlens) Noel will return to organized basketball when he starts Saturday in the Philadelphia 76ers’ first summer league game against the Orlando Magic in Orlando.
“Regardless, there’s going to be a lot of adrenaline,” Noel told the Philadelphia Inquirer Thursday after the Sixers’ final practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. “I know I’m going to have a lot of nerves, and be a little nervous, but more excitement.”

Celtics guard Marcus Smart will undergo surgery on his thumb today, but there’s hope he can return sometime in the playoffs, league source tells ESPN.
Surgery will be to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.

76ers’ Simmons Joins Magic, Big O in Milestone Club
Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons recorded his eighth triple-double on Thursday night in a win over the New York Knicks, the second-highest total for a rookie in NBA history.
With 13 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists against the Knicks, Simmons broke a tie with Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, who had seven triple-doubles as a rookie. Oscar Robertson holds the NBA record with 26 triple-doubles in his rookie season.
