Forward Kris Jenkins scored 15 points, and 12th-ranked Villanova routed Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks 81-44 Monday night at The Pavilion in Villanova, Pa.

Jenkins, a sophomore forward, paced a balanced Wildcats attack that saw four players score in double figures. Junior forward Daniel Ochefu, senior guard Darrun Hilliard II and junior guard Dylan Ennis each scored 10 points.

Villanova (2-0) removed any suspense early, racing to a 13-2 lead. The Wildcats scored the final 13 points of the first half and took a 45-14 halftime lead.

Junior guard Devin Martin led UMES with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Mike Myers added 14 points.

UMES (0-2) couldn’t generate enough offense as Villanova quickly turned the game into a rout. The Hawks registered only five first-half baskets, none in the final 5:31.

The Hawks, a young team with no returning starters from last season, finished the night with just 13 baskets and had several dry spells.

UMES also is in the midst of a tough early-season schedule. The Hawks next play at Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday night. The Hawks play eight in a row on the road before their Dec. 2 home opener against Maryland-Baltimore County.

Villanova plays host to Bucknell on Thursday.
