With the 19th overall pick in the NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs have selected Luka Samanic.
Samanic has been a professional basketball player since he was 14. While he isn’t the most hyped up prospect, the Spurs always do their due diligence when it comes to foreign scouting. With all the success they’ve had in that department, it wouldn’t shock anyone if this pans out too.
Samanic has the tools to be a stretch big in this league, but his shoddy numbers from three – 33.8 percent – don’t look too promising. What makes Samanic such an interesting prospect is his bounce. He has impressive handles and footwork for his size. Better yet, he’s a fantastic athlete, which would help him a lot in the Spurs unselfish offense.
San Antonio’s reputation for drafting foreign studs speaks for itself. If that’s not enough evidence, remember what happened to the last Luka that was drafted into the NBA.
