Marcin Gortat Apologizes to Teammates for Remarks

After (Marcin) Gortat proclaimed the team’s reserves “one of the worst benches in the league right now” following Washington’s seventh loss in nine games Saturday against Chicago, (Wizards coach Scott) Brooks and Gortat stood together in front of the team before practice Monday. Gortat apologized, and Brooks preached unity to a team that can’t afford to waste energy pointing fingers.
With that possibility hanging over them, Brooks promised Gortat’s comments had no lingering effects on the team’s mind-set.
“You move on, and we have a good group of guys that understand that,” Brooks said. “We all make mistakes at times, but we have to move on, and we will. We’re not happy, and that’s a good thing. If we were happy and we’re 2-7, I would be really concerned.
