After a long recruitment that featured scholarship offers from many of the best college basketball programs in the country, Stevenson senior point guard Jalen Brunson, the state of Illinois’ top prep basketball player, ended his recruitment by verbally committing to Villanova on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 lefty point guard picked the Wildcats and head coach Jay Wright over other finalist Illinois at a press conference on Wednesday at the District 125 administration building behind Stevenson High School. Brunson had previously scheduled official visits to his other three finalists of Michigan State, Purdue and Temple, but he cancelled those visits early this week and focused on Villanova and Illinois.
