Former Toronto Raptor general manager and New York Knicks president Glen Grunwald is expected to be named McMaster’s new director of athletics and recreation as early as Thursday morning.
Throughout the process, it was expected the person selected for the role would have a recognizable name that would open doors since raising cash for the growing needs of the department continues to be a massive part of the job. Grunwald certainly fits that bill. He will, arguably, be the most well known AD in the country the minute he arrives.
Reports said he was a finalist for the GM’s post with the Memphis Grizzlies as late as three weeks ago, but the NBA team decided to stick with its interim GM. That left Grunwald available for the McMaster job.
