The Orlando Magic announced in a press release Monday that they have waived Jameer Nelson. His contract for this upcoming season was valued at $7 million, only $1 million of which was guaranteed. So, the move saves Orlando a good amount of money and officially ends the Dwight Howard Era, as Nelson was the last remaining player on the roster from the 2009 team that made the NBA Finals.

After Kyle Lowry, Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas have all gotten contracts, Nelson will be in that next tier of serviceable point guards, along with Shaun Livingston, Steve Blake, Patty Mills and Greivis Vasquez. In other words, he’ll have little trouble finding a home somewhere as a backup.
