Worth Smith posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds to help the Navy Midshipmen to a 70-47 victory over the Loyola Greyhounds in a Patriot League matinee on Wednesday afternoon in Annapolis, Md.

Smith, a forward, hit 9 of 15 shots from the field and made all three of his 3-pointers. He also scored seven points during a 13-3 Navy run that gave the Midshipmen a 52-35 lead in the second half.

Guard Tilman Dunbar added 13 points and six assists for Navy (5-8, 1-0), which took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back.

The Midshipmen now have won two in a row.

Loyola (4-8, 0-1) has dropped four of five and continued to have problems on offense. Overall, the Greyhounds shot just 36 percent from the field and couldn’t get going on offense for long stretches.

The Greyhounds led at times in the first half but faded after that. Guard Tyler Hubbard topped Loyola with 16 points and backcourt mate Eric Lester added 13 points.

Both teams have Patriot League battles coming up Saturday. Navy travels to Lafayette and Loyola will host Army.
