The list of teams guard Goran Dragic’s agents presented the Suns does not include the Houston Rockets; however, that does not mean Houston won’t attempt to trade for him.
Incumbent Rockets guard Patrick Beverley is also represented by Bill Duffy, the same agent as Dragic, and he was not willing to compromise either of his clients’ future earnings potential in pairing them together in Houston.
The Rockets could still try and consummate a deal and let their offers this summer do the talking, but it becomes highly risky for the Rockets to trade away real assets only to have Dragic walk this summer.
The Rockets will have the opportunity to restrict Beverley’s free agency, so they do control that situation in many regards.
Would parting with real trade pieces be smart for Houston, even if it’s just a rental? That’s the question the Rockets will have to answer in the next 30 plus hours.
