Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies News

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to do what general manager Sam Presti wants. Tank. They’ve lost seven of their last eight games and five in a row. The last two have come against the Houston Rockets, who had just three wins all season.

The one star the Thunder do have has been playing tremendously. Even though it ended in a loss, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 39 points. The rest of the team has just two scorers outside of SGA that average double figures and one of the, Josh Giddey, was out.

As for the Grizzlies, Ja Morant is expected to miss multiple weeks. I hope Morant is able to come back strong and resume his Most Improved Player Award campaign, but the Grizzlies will certainly miss him.

Fortunately for Memphis, it just got back one of its best scorers in Dillon Brooks. While Brooks isn’t a No. 1 scoring option, he’ll have no problem playing like one in Morant’s absence. I like Brooks, I just don’t think him being the No. 1 and Desmond Bane or Jaren Jackson Jr. being the No. 2 and No. 3.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview

While the Thunder remain in tanking mode, that doesn’t mean they don’t play hard. In fact, the Thunder rank fourth in the league against the spread at 13-8.

The Grizzlies are just one game behind at 12-9.

With the Grizzlies missing the heart and soul of their team, I can’t understand how the line has Memphis as almost a double-digit favorite. If the Thunder weren’t virtually against winning games, I would love a moneyline play here.

The total might be worth a play. However, there’s some conflicting trends that may make you look elsewhere.

The over is 7-14 in Thunder games this year and 2-8 when an away underdog.

The over is 12-9 in Grizzlies games this year and 6-2 when a home favorite.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies Picks

With the low total of 212, I think I’ll stay away.

Instead, I’ll take the Thunder getting nearly 10 points against a team without its best player by far.
