Scott Brooks to Coach West All-Stars
Oklahoma City Head Coach Scott Brooks and his coaching staff will guide the Western Conference All-Stars during the 2014 All-Star game, the NBA announced today.
Brooks and his staff clinched All-Star coaching honors after the Thunder secured the best record in the Western Conference through games played on Feb. 2.
Winners of their last eight games, Brooks has guided the Thunder to its best start in the Oklahoma City era (36-10). Through the first three months of the season, the Thunder has already strung together three win-streaks of eight or more games.
The Thunder kicked-off the 2013-14 season by starting the year a perfect 13-0 at home and in 16 meetings this season against Eastern Conference opponents, Oklahoma City has posted a 14-2 record.
In his sixth season as head coach, Brooks has amassed a career mark of 270-157 (.632). Brooks was named 2009-10 NBA Coach of the Year, his first full season as head coach after guiding the Thunder to a 50-32 (.610) record and the franchise’s first playoff appearance in Oklahoma City.
This will mark Brooks’ second career All-Star coaching appearance. In 2012, Brooks led the Western Conference to a 152-149 All-Star game victory at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.
