Senior forward Marek Olesinski helped Air Force rally for a 53-49 victory over New Mexico on Wednesday night at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Olesinski scored a game-high 18 points and produced the go-ahead basket late in the game for Air Force (10-12, 3-8 Mountain West Conference), which had lost six of its last seven games.

Senior guard Deshawn Delaney had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead New Mexico (14-8, 6-4). Senior guard Hugh Greenwood had 14 points and five rebounds.

Air Force staged an 8-0 run to go up 12-9 on a 3-pointer by Olesinski with 14:20 to play in the first half. Air Force led 28-26 at the break, but New Mexico surged ahead early in the second half.

The Lobos went up 41-37 on a 3-pointer by Greenwood with 14:25 remaining. The Falcons cut the deficit to one on Olesinski’s jumper with 4:03 to go and took a 51-49 lead on a 3-pointer by Olesinski with three minutes left.

The Lobos had a chance to tie or regain the lead on several occasions, but two turnovers in the final 2:41 proved costly.
