Alex Tyus: Lockout Prevented NBA Career
Alex Tyus, an undrafted center out of Florida, now a veteran Euroleague champion, is set to register his first NBA matchup as Maccabi Tel Aviv face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Though Maccabi’s roster is stacked with talent: former Cavs, Grizzlies and Sixers guard Jeremy Pargo, defensive specialist guard Marquez Haynes, ex-Oylmpian Australian center Aleks Maric, skilled wing Sylven Landesberg, and 6-foot-5 veteran forward Devin Smith, who could’ve been a perfect glue-guy in an NBA system like the San Antonio Spurs — Tyus has the most NBA upside.
“The NBA is all about opportunity and getting a chance. I never got mine because of the NBA lockout and my pursuit of Israeli passport,” Tyus told Eurobasket.
