Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns Team News

The Cavaliers doubled down on its commitment to continue their youth movement after exercising team options on several young pieces. Cleveland announced on Saturday that they exercised the fourth-year contract options for Darius Garland and Dylan Windler. They also guaranteed the third-year of Isaac Okoro.

Meanwhile, Suns head coach Monty Williams assured that DeAndre Ayton has remained focused despite not receiving a contract extension this offseason. The bench tactician seems to insinuate that he wants the center to play aggressively on the offensive end.

“He probably doesn’t get enough credit for how unselfish he is. We want him to be more selfish. We want him to be more aggressive, but I don’t foresee that happening. The young man wants to win, and that’s what I’ve seen since I’ve been with him from Day 1,” Williams said in the press conference via NBA writer Sam Amick.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns Preview

The Cavaliers presented themselves in Los Angeles as a potential Darkhorse playoff contender in the East. After demolishing the Clippers 92-79 on Wednesday, Cleveland went toe-to-toe with LeBron James and the Lakers before falling, 113-101. While the team is getting production from different men every game, rookie big Evan Mobley is steadily coming into his own these past two games. The third-overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft chalked up 23 points and 6 boards against the Los Angeles just two days after posting a double-double vs. the Clippers.

The Suns, though, are struggling so far on both offense and defense. The defending West champs are scoring 106.2 points per game (19th in the NBA) and allowing opponents to score 114.7 points per contest through four games. Phoenix lost their last two games in contrasting ways. They lost to Blazers by a huge margin, 134-105, before falling to the Kings, 110-107, on a buzzer-beating trey from Harrison Barnes.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns Predictions

Again, the Cavaliers are playing their third game in a span of four days, so fatigue might come to play on Saturday. On the other hand, the Suns are well-rested, playing only their second game this week. This game will boil down on who can take advantage of the mismatches. Cleveland has a surplus of big men who can make plays on both ends, while Phoenix’s backcourt rotation is one of the deepest in the league. Although the Suns started 0-2 at Footprint Center this season, it seems it’s just a matter of time before they claim their breakthrough home win.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Picks

Moneyline and ATS: Suns win their first home game but won’t cover the double-digit spread.

O/U: Phoenix scored 107 points in their last game. Expect them to score more vs the Cavs to push the total past 216 points. Bet on OVER.
