Will Porzingis Join Latvian Team for Olympic Qualifiers?

“It’s tough schedule, for sure,’’ said (Kristaps) Porzingis, who played just 50 games last season in the Spanish League. “It’s a short period now. You need to be locked in and give all. I don’t want to finish the season with regret and then have five months of offseason work. I want to give my all. When the offseason starts, I’ll put in more work and prepare myself for next season.”

There seems no more legitimate talk about Porzingis spending July with the Latvian national team for an Olympic qualifying event in Serbia. It seems evident he needs the time with the Knicks coaches and trainers in Tarrytown to gain weight and muscle. Porzingis may have to play another summer league in Las Vegas — which in January seemed pointless.
