Popovich Gave Brown Advice About Coaching Contract

(Sixers Coach Brett) Brown knew the unspeakable was possible when he took the job. So did Popovich. In the summer of 2013, when the 76ers offered Brown a three-year contract, Brown went to Popovich for advice.

Popovich told him: Don’t accept anything less than four years.

Brown is stuck in coaching hell, repeating last season’s lottery dive. Brown works without talent, veterans and a practice facility.

For Brown, as competitive as Popovich, it has been a grind. But Brown has remained optimistic, and he’s just as optimistic that the franchise’s general manager, Sam Hinkie, is invested in him.
